Iranian Supreme Court upholds death sentence of Pastor Youcef

Pray! Iranian Supreme Court upholds death sentence of Pastor Youcef

Youcef Nadarkhani, a 34-year-old pastor from Rasht, about 750 miles northwest of Tehran, was arrested in October 2009 after he protested a government policy that required children, including his 8- and 9-year-old sons, to study the Quran in school. Youcef told school officials that the Iranian constitution allows for freedom of religious practice. As a result of his protest, secret police called him before a political tribunal and arrested him for protesting. The charges were later amended to apostasy and evangelism of Muslims. Youcef was tried on Sept. 21–22, 2010 by the 1st Court of the Revolutionary Tribunal and sentenced to death on Nov. 13 for apostasy...

Death Sentence Upheld
The Iranian Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence of Pastor Youcef. He has been in prison since October 2009, and the appeal of his death sentence was rejected by the Iranian Supreme Court on June 28, 2011. He is to be executed by hanging. If the death sentence is carried out, it will be the first court-ordered execution of a Christian in Iran in 20 years.

Riots Across America for Memorial Day (Updated!)

"Big Media have ignored this disturbing trend, as has the Washington political establishment."

I didn't hear about this on the news...

"I urge President Obama to speak up. He needs to remind urban youth that while other young Americans are risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is unacceptable for thugs here to spread terror in our cities."

Urban Chaos

I didn't comment on this yesterday because I wanted to gather more information, but I was stunned by many of the headlines I read in the past 24 to 48 hours. On the day of remembrance set aside to commemorate the sacrifice of so many U.S. veterans throughout our history, many American cities were the scenes of mob violence.

Riots broke out on the beaches of Long Island, New York, Carson Beach in South Boston, Massachusetts, Miami, Florida, and Charlotte, North Carolina, among other places. In each case, large urban crowds, drunken mobs and gangs engaged in random violence.

The riots come after months of "flash mobs" trashing businesses and terrorizing shoppers and pedestrians in Washington, D.C., New York and other big cities.

Many of these mobs have been comprised of minority youth and their victims have been women, children and the elderly of all races. Big Media have ignored this disturbing trend, as has the Washington political establishment.

The president of hope and change has turned a blind eye to this urban chaos. I urge President Obama to speak up. He needs to remind urban youth that while other young Americans are risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is unacceptable for thugs here to spread terror in our cities.

Chicago Police News Affairs released a statement saying they had to close the beach for safety reasons, as people were suffering heat exhaustion and emergency vehicles couldn't get through to help. But, WLS listeners say there was what they called a "large gangbanger element" at the Oak Street and North Avenue beaches.

... a collection of 911 tapes obtained Thursday by WLS Radio from the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), seem to corroborate listener reports.

Emergency dispatchers handled at least five separate calls from beachgoers reporting violent acts on both North Avenue Beach and Oak Street Beach.

During one call, a woman tells an emergency responder that a fight had broken out on North Avenue Beach where she noticed minimal police presence.

"Yes, there's a fight breaking out on the beach because there's nothing but animals covering this beach today," the woman says. "I mean, you can't even walk along the bike path or ride along the bike path. There's no crowd control. What the hell is going on?"

A 911 caller who was at the Oak Street Beach food and concessions stand said, “We have a couple of gentlemen who are threatening to shoot us, threatening to whip our a**, trying to take our own equipment.” ...

In the days and weeks following the closure, Chicago's Gold Coast and Streeterville neighborhoods experienced an outbreak of mob violence by large groups of teenagers, preying on people as old as 68-years-old.

A Chicago woman who played witness to a beach melee on Memorial Day weekend wants Chicago police and officials to come clean about what happened along the lakefront in May.

City officials said they closed North Avenue Beach on May 30 because of excessive heat, but Amy Schwartz says no one is talking about the excessive violence that prompted her to call 911 that day...

"They were being rude and abusive and throwing trash around and defecating," Schwartz said. "The crowd became very animated. They were cheering on the beating and more people joined in, so I kept walking forward. I was afraid I could be next." ...

Parents not Schools to Blame? (Updated!)

Schools or Parents to Blame?

A recent example of the social decay in our urban communities led to a common debate.

The example of social decay:
Nice. I was just told to buy our kids ear plugs after politely asking a young girl to stop yelling profanities in her phone at the gas station "cause that's the way we talk in Peoria so F--- You!"

My reaction:
Can I get a refund on my public school and social welfare taxes?

The debate:
It's not the schools it's the parents.

My response:
Really? I mean is it really the parents?

Because in my neighborhood, there aren't any parents! We as a society are in the second or third generation of teen mothers and fatherless homes. There are no "parents" to blame.

I think this is a systemic problem rooted in the breakdown of the family and enabled, intentionally or not, by public policy, including public school policies and curriculum.

Increasingly, "Americans have come to see government, rather than family, as the institution through which we primarily help each other." I would add that the Church has has bought this lie too.

The main characteristic of the savior state is that it presents itself as the people's guardian, as the guarantor of the citizen's well-being. If "government" is the new Mom and Dad, providing food, shelter, clothing, and education, then it is a government school problem! (public school is an old term, it is no longer the public running the schools, but the government, therefore the proper name is government school.)

Some proposed solution(s):

Stop enslaving people through government welfare dependence!

Reform all components of social welfare system to make it a temporary hand up instead of a permanent hand out. The Church needs to take back the primary role of charitable giver.

Why are blacks, who know life on the government plantation better than whites, and who are proportionately being hit much harder in this difficult economy, still buying what working class whites have rejected hands down? That, as Karl Rove put it, "…we can spend our way to prosperity?"

The problem is broader and deeper. Blacks still by and large see government dependence as the remedy rather than the disease, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They still choose to listen to left wing black political leadership and media who have careers in keeping it all going.

Consider that it was welfare state government policies that caused this economic collapse to begin with. And that it was community activist groups claiming to represent the interests of minorities who lobbied for these policies.

This is the basic leftist delusion: “taking” is the same as “giving.” “Taxing” is the same as “offering.”

But the Bible remains very simple, very clear: thou shalt not steal. This applies to people, corporations, and even to that most monopolistic, violence-based corporation we call the government. Caesar has no inherent right to take what is not his. “Thou shalt not steal” applies to everyone, rich or poor. It does not discriminate based on class, creed, race, sex, gender, party, income, or anything else. That is the Word of God, the standard of Jesus.

Stop enabling immoral s-xual behaviors and lifestyles in our public schools!

Tell children the truth. Teach that s-x causes pregnancy, and you shouldn't do it until you are married and ready to start a family because it is the mother and father's responsibility to provide food, shelter, clothing, and education, not the government! Punish boys that father children and never provide nor care for them!

The culture of the traditional family is now in intense competition with a very different culture...
