Reflecting on the Christmas story made me wonder, when is it time to flee?
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt...
(Matthew 2:13-14 ESV)
The profound erosion of God given and Constitutionally protected liberties lately begs the question, when is it time to flee?
From the Government take over of public schools, to the usurpation of parental rights, to the NDAA detention provision which will give the military under orders by the President to detain American citizens with out warrant, trial, or oversight for as long as they want. Seriously!
What happens if we just wait?
Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
weeping and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
(Matthew 2:16-18 ESV)
Lord, is it for me to stay and be bold in the Gospel, or to "flee" and raise up the remnant?

Hey Natalie, for sure!
ReplyDeleteAnon, I'm going to follow up this post with "Where" and "How" looking at Biblical and Historical examples (and anti-examples). We just came out of Thanksgiving, a tradition (and eventually a nation) born from the "fleeing" of persecution and tyranny.
Blessings.
Currently residing in Illinois, this gives more fuel to the fire to flee...
ReplyDeleteby former state senator Roger A Keats :
"Illinois is ranked 50th for fiscal policy; 47th in job creation; 1st in unfunded pension liabilities; 2nd largest budget deficit; 1st in failing schools; 1st in bonded indebtedness; highest sales tax in the nation; the most judges indicted (Operations Greylord and Gambat); 32 Chicago Aldermen, over 1000 state and municipal employees and 5 of our last 9 elected governors indicted. That’s more indictments than the other 49 states combined!"
This is a great article that really makes one start to think about the issue. Can things get so bad that we would really have to "Flee?" If so ... then ???
ReplyDeleteJoseph and Mary could safely flee to Egypt. David fled to several safe-havens.
