Forced (and Godless) Compassion = Despotism (tyrannical rule)
A pretty quick look back through history and you see that every human attempt at a socialist utopian society has spiraled into despotism, that is to say tyranny.
Why would we want to try again? “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Says the teacher in
Ecclesiastes verse 9. And so it goes.
Forced compassion, and even worse, Godless forced compassion is not compassion at all, but it is socialism. Oh the words sound so good, who could possibly stand in opposition of eradicating poverty, ‘free’ health care, jobs for everyone, etc.? When a politician promises something to one person(s), a tyrant has to take that something from another person(s). And when he promises something to everyone, RUN!
America was, for the better part of 200 years (when it changed is debatable), a Constitutional Republic. It has been changing into a Socialist Republic. And the
democrat AND
republican political parties and leadership seem intent on continuing the transformation.
It makes my heart weep! The good news is that the perspective of the teacher quoted above, “under the sun,” is a perspective of the hopelessness and meaninglessness of the world apart from God. But we don’t have to live apart from God! We live under
The Son, Jesus Christ! And eternal life with God our Father is available through Him! And also, there is a third political alternative,

Godly compassion is altruistic and is the business of the Church not the fallible and corruptible governments of man.
Wake Up Church! Cry Out America! Because the silencing of the pulpits has already begun.
Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the LORD your God, and cry out to the LORD. (Joel 1:14)
