Head Scarf Beatings or Airport Security? (Updated)

Let’s contrast, for a minute, two events. One event is the six Muslim Imams that were taken off a flight for very suspicious activity, and the other is a Christian woman’s punishment for not wearing a headscarf in public.

Airport Security:
- Six Arab men praying loudly in Arabic while waiting for a flight.
- Suddenly, you hear the six Arab men chanting loudly. "Allah! Allah! Allah!" as the boarding announcement is made.
- “You notice that two of the Arab men sit at the back of the airplane, two more sit in the middle of the plane on the exit aisle, and two sit at the front of the airplane.” (the same as the 9/11 highjackers)
- “you hear a stewardess explain to another passenger that the six Arab men moved from their assigned seats to the new seating arrangement. And it seems that the two Arab men up front are now asking for seat-belt extensions.”
- “the two Arab men quickly tuck the seat-belt extensions underneath their seats. Then they begin speaking in both English and Arabic about President Bush, the war in Iraq, al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.” (Shapiro)

How would you react? How would you expect airport security to react?

They were politely escorted off of the plane and questioned. It is important to understand that they were questioned with dignity and respect, and within the confines of the law for their suspicious behavior. In my opinion it was intentionally meant to do one of two things.

One, they were testing the system. Or two, they just wanted to evoke a response so they could cry “Racial Profiling!” and “Discrimination!” Either way, it looks like they were intentionally gaming the system, but were afforded all due respect befitting any free person.

On the other hand, under their own Islamic Sharia law in Sudan, a Christian woman “was accused of ‘standing near a garden at night’ and not having a scarf on her head. She was accused also of not having a job. She did have job.” This woman was reportedly a passenger on a bus when “A couple of cops halted the bus, dragging Holland from the vehicle” (Swank).

What was her punishment for not having a headscarf on? Was she questioned and reprimanded? Was she given a warning or citation and sent on her way? No!

She spent the night in jail so the next day she could find out what her punishment was for not having a headscarf on. “The judge pronounced Holland guilty. She was to endure 40 lashes with the whip, her back stripped. Then she was fined 10,000 dinars ($38) which was a third of her monthly salary” (Swank).

Pray! Pray that God grants this woman peace and courage. Pray for all of those brothers and sisters around the world that are less fortunate than we are here in America. And pray that America stands strong against the march of multiculturalism and politically correct liberalism. Pray in the name of Jesus Christ – Amen

Grant Swank concludes his article with this:

In Sudan, two million persons have been slain. Four million persons have been displaced because of the on-going conflict instigated by extremist Muslims. However, fasicst Islamics have not been able to extinguish the growing Christian community.

"The tremendous news is that despite the persecution and the burning of churches, there’s been amazing growth of Christian. In fact, we believe the figures show it’s been grown to almost 70 percent in South Sudan. This is just how the Holy Spirit works," Open Doors’ Jerry Dykstra informed Mission Network News (MNN).

Praise God!

Update: 3/12/2007
"The Council on American-Islamic Relations, which is representing the imams, will hold a news conference in Washington, D.C. Tuesday to announce the filing of a discrimination lawsuit against US Airways by the six Islamic religious leaders." (FoxNews)

Mid-Week Devotional - Romans 8:18-9:29

Read: Romans 8:18 - 9:29

Scripture

Romans 8:23

Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.” (NIV)

And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits —we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.” (HCSB)

Observation

We, the faithful that have received the Holy Spirit (the firstfruits), eagerly wait to be remade in the full unbroken image of God. How long the wait can seem! “Are we there yet, Heavenly Father?” we call from the back seat as the journey has only just begun. The ache of the yearning for our destination!

Application

How do we handle the groaning? First, rejoice! Paul starts this passage with the proclamation that “the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us” (8:18).

Second, be patient. Because of the glory before us, “we eagerly wait for it with patience” (8:25).

And finally, be encouraged for God’s love endures forever! (8:35, 38-39)

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I know You Are! I know your love is eternal and that there is nothing that can separate me from you. The wait seems so long, the struggle so hard, but how glorious your love is! Hear me rejoice in your love, Lord, and grant me patience. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray - Amen

Stop Taxpayer Funding of Planned Parenthood!

Here is an actual transcript from a team of girls that LDI encouraged to call PP clinics and pretend to have been sexually abused by adult males. Pay attention to the girl’s age and her boyfriend’s age.

CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. Stephanie speaking. How can I help you? . . .

CALLER: Okay. Well, it's just I was wondering, I was asking her but she wasn't really sure. She said that -- the thing is, my friend told me that -- like I'll be 14 in March, and she said that you guys would have to tell my parents I'm getting an abortion. But my boyfriend's 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and you wouldn't have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Okay. I'm missing something. What about parents?

CALLER: Well, they can't find out at all that I'm getting an abortion.

CLINIC: Okay. We have confidential services here.

CALLER: Okay. So you wouldn't have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No, we don't tell anybody your business.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

Get the full LDI story and transcripts here: http://www.traditionalvalues.org/1/pph/

** ACT NOW!! **

Send these transcripts to your elected officials and demand that your taxes stop funding non-abstinence based Sex Education programs and Planned Parenthood!

The U.S. Supreme Court will decide the fate of Partial-birth abortion!Given the present makeup of the Court, this truly could be a historic ruling should the court uphold the 2003 ruling that bans the barbaric "partial-birth" abortion procedure that involves the breech delivery of the fetus, followed by the collapsing of its skull to permit removal.

ACLU Forces Removal of Nativity Scene!

“ANN ARBOR, MI – The Berkley, Michigan City Council last night voted 6-to-1 to no longer display a Nativity scene on city property. The City caved in to an ACLU threat of a lawsuit if they continued their decades-old Nativity display. Some residents claim that the Nativity display had been on city property for more than 60 years.” (TMLC)

Stand for your religious liberties today!
I just received wonderful news that Sen. Sam Brownback is urging his colleagues to allow a vote on the Public Expression of Religion Act (PERA)--a measure that sailed through the House 244-173.

Passage of PERA would eliminate the awarding of attorney's fees to groups challenging the constitutionality of displays on public property. Groups like the ACLU have made millions of dollars using the threat of monetary awards to intimidate officials into removing Ten Commandment monuments, Nativity scenes, crosses, or the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.

I would like to present the Senator with a minimum of 150,000 petitions supporting PERA, but I need your help! (Staver)

The Need for Christian Bloggers

I recently finished a Business Research Project on whether blogs could be useful ministry tools or not.

The bottom line is this: they are not only useful ministry tools, but Christian bloggers need to do a better job of promoting Christian ministries and speaking about important issues to keep the Christian worldview at the top of the search engine results.

So, to those of you Christian bloggers out there already doing a good job of promoting and cross linking to other ministry websites, keep up the good work! And I’ll encourage all Christian bloggers to reach out to your local ministries and churches to partner in cross linking (think blog roll) and ministry promotion.

Your hard work is not without value!

You can download my concise report [PDF File Here]. It is a short read that gets to the point.

Weekend Fun - Relationships

Had a very busy weekend. I lot of people to visit with, and we love them all.

"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:

If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken

Weekly ReCap - 11-17-2006

Two current issues this week that paint a picture of the degraded and lowly state of American culture: Late term abortions and O. J. "hypothesizing" on how he would have killed his ex-wife and her friend if he did it.

It's a good thing we are just in the world, but not of this world! Pray for America.

Stop Late Term Abortions!

America will no longer be a noble nation — a country that stands for human rights and protection of the innocent.”

That was Bill O’reilly on one doctors practice of late term abortions, “Wednesday night on this broadcast, a pro-life advocate told us that Tiller injects poison into the baby's heart while it is still in the womb, then removes the dead baby and cremates it.” (O’reilly)

Bill is right, America will no longer be a noble nation. But I think it’s worse than that. I think that if we Americans do not get on our knees in repentance and turn from our evil ways, God will no longer bless us. The Church in America will fall under the sword of God’s judgment.

** Keep Reading, See the Act Now Section Below!! **

A recent study summarized by the World Congress of Families statistically notes the value of abstinence:
Controlling for parental education, race, gender, family structure, religiosity, and family income, their multivariate logistic regressions confirmed teen abstinence as a "significant and independent predictor of academic success," being associated with a 40 percent lower rate of high school expulsion, a 50 percent lower rate of dropping out of high school, a 70 percent increase in the probability of attending or graduating from college, and a 66 percent increase in college graduation. . .

"Teens who abstain [from sexual relations] will be subject to less emotional turmoil and fewer psychological distractions; this will enable them to better focus on choolwork." Furthermore, virgin teens "are likely to have greater future orientation, greater impulse control, greater perseverance, greater resistance to peer pressure, and more respect for parental and social values." (WCF, See special note below!)
Instead, our tax dollars pay for “comprehensive sex education” and abortion centers. As a former boy and young man I can tell you that any thought, image, or otherwise about sex did not deter me. In fact it only made the desire grow stronger. That energy should be focused on something else entirely!

** ACT NOW **
The U.S. Supreme Court will decide the fate of Partial-birth abortion!

Given the present makeup of the Court, this truly could be a historic ruling should the court uphold the 2003 ruling that bans the barbaric "partial-birth" abortion procedure that involves the breech delivery of the fetus, followed by the collapsing of its skull to permit removal.

Discerning God’s Call

When following God’s call, sometimes He makes you wait. It’s the small things, the small steps along the path.

His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'” (Matthew 25:21)

But for me, I start getting a little anxious. I start seeing “callings” all over the place. This is when I really need to turn to Jesus, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:3)

The danger of following a false calling or whim is that I may be turning away from God’s true calling. Is it God’s call, or am I manufacturing “callings” because I’m not satisfied with the small things?

So, no quick decisions. Go to the Lord in prayer always. Cast your worries and cares on Him, and do everything for His glory.

But then, there are the times when circumstances are obviously more than just coincidence! Situations and circumstances just line up way too perfectly.

Be strong in pursuing your relationship with our King so you will know His voice. Be actively listening for His calling so that you can follow Him.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11)

Weekend Fun - Welcome Drew!

What a great weekend! My brother and his wife welcomed Drew into the world, their second child, and we were able to visit with Luke's Uncle Gabe and Aunt Heather.

Family is so awesome. I'm working on an essay concerning children and leaving a legacy, I'm so excited!

"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."
(Matthew 18:5-6)

Praise God for this new life!

Veterans Day - Nov. 11 2006

Thank you, Veterans, for your service and sacrifice. Hold your heads high!

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

General George Patton once advised: ‘Not every man can be a soldier. To be a soldier is the highest profession of life; [it] comes closest to being a life like Christ who gave his life for others, as we may do.’ Quoted in General Patton's Principles for Life and Leadership by his wartime aide Porter B. Williamson (p. 132).” (Kraft)

We Veterans that are no longer in service have a new duty, a duty to pass the torch to the next generation. To keep America’s warrior culture alive so that our freedoms may be preserved.

As the poem “In Flanders Field” by John McCrae cautions,
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

We are in a real danger of loosing our warrior culture. It is up to the warriors of old to keep the spirit alive!

As Raymond Kraft warns:
When the Warriors fail, when the Warrior ethos fades, the power of the tribe withers, and in time it is absorbed by new conquerors, or taken into slavery, or slaughtered, and becomes just grist for the archeologists who will excavate its traces centuries or millennia later. . .

This is the understanding that Europe and America must recover if they, if we, are to resist successfully the Islamization by force and fear of Europe and ultimately of America. The societies that forget how to fight for their freedom cannot keep their freedom. And the societies, cultures, nations and tribes that forget the necessity of sustaining a Warrior culture have nothing with which to fight for their freedom.
Veterans, take up the torch and pass it on to the next warrior generation!

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church – 11-12-2006

A young man reports to work. Shortly after, he is confronted by a group of disguised men. They demand his ID card. His ID card indicates he is a Christian. They question his loyalty to the King of Kings and he holds firm. So, they cut off his head.

That’s what happened to 14-year-old Christian, Ayad Tariq, from Baqouba, Iraq (Newsangst, see link below).

November 12, 2006 (this Sunday) has been designated an International Day of Prayer for the persecuted church. http://www.idop.org/

Please join me in praying for our brothers and sisters around the world that face trial and persecution for their faith in our King, Jesus Christ.

Mid-Week Devotional - Romans 7:1 – 8:17

Read: Romans 7:1 – 8:17

Scripture

Romans 8:5

Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” (NIV)

For those whose lives are according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those whose lives are according to the Spirit, about the things of the Spirit.” (HCSB)

Observation

How are you living? What do you think about? Do you live according to the flesh or the Spirit? Your thoughts will tell you.

“Mind the things of the flesh - Have their thoughts and affections fixed on such things as gratify corrupt nature; namely, on things visible and temporal; on things of the earth, on pleasure, (of sense or imagination,) praise, or riches.” (Wesley)

“Mind the things of the Spirit - Think of, relish, love things invisible, eternal; the things which the Spirit hath revealed, which he works in us, moves us to, and promises to give us.” (Wesley)

Thoughts of the flesh lead to death, spiritual and eternal death, but thoughts of the Spirit leads to life in the here and now (God’s peace), and eternally. (v. 8:6)

Application

Live by the Spirit! Be one of God’s children (v. 8:14) and an heir (v. 8:17). We can overcome desires of the flesh by living in the Spirit, “If we suffer with him - Willingly and cheerfully, for righteousness' sake.” (Wesley)

Prayer

Heavenly Father, pour out your Spirit on me. I pray you would guide me to live in the Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray – Amen.

Why Don’t America’s Women’s Rights Activists Take Up This Cause?

“Individual freedoms and rights for American women and their families are threatened now as they haven’t been in decades. . . Muslim groups are now petitioning U.S. courts to allow the establishment of Muslim enclaves in the United States that will live under shar-ia law, the most hostile law in the world insofar as women’s rights are concerned.” (Taber)
Are America’s women, women’s rights activists in particular, really thinking about this? Will they vote tomorrow with this Islamic threat in mind?
“...Iranian police with batons and shields have beaten women's rights demonstrators in downtown Tehran, injuring one protester and detaining 20. The protest by about 200 women demanded nullification of a law allowing Iranian men to have four wives. The protesters changed [sic], "We are women, we are human, but we don't have any rights!" Iran's Islamic law imposes tight restrictions on women. They need a male guardian's permission to work or travel. Women are not allowed to become judges, and a man's court testimony is considered twice as important as a woman's. Despite such restrictions, Iranian women have more rights than their counterparts in Saudi Arabia and some other conservative Muslim countries. They can drive, vote, and run for office” (AP).
In fact, I think Cindy Sheehan, the Dixie Chicks, and Senators Clinton and Pelosi should take their infamous celebrity to the streets of Iran if they truly want to make a difference in the world.
“A court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced the victim of a gang rape to 90 lashes of the whip because she was alone in a car with a man other than her husband.

The Jerusalem Post reports the high-profile and controversial trial ended with the convicted rapists sentenced to punishments ranging from one thousand lashes to as little as 80 — 10 fewer than the victim — along with prison terms of between one and five years. The woman's family says it will appeal what it considers inadequate sentences for the rapists.” (FOX)
Why aren’t the talking feminist heads saying more about these human rights violations?

Vote your values tomorrow!

Cool!

What do you think about the "new media"? I think it's a great tool, so long as it doesn't replace fellowship. But I don't think this will, I see it enhancing it.

Weekly ReCap - 11-3-2006

Started this week off with a refreshing weekend and a positive outlook.

Then a personal insult to me, my brother, my brother-in-law, my father, my father's father, my father's uncle, and my mothers father (and probably more), and all the men and women that serve to protect and defend our nation. Raymond S. Kraft of the Family Security Foundation explains that "John Kerry has publicly and deliberately given psychological and political aid and comfort to America's Jihadist enemies" during a time of war.

Sadly, many people seem unable to take his words for what they are. All they see is the continuing political spin. Very sad. Christian brothers and sisters and other non-muslims around the world are being brutalized at the hands of Islam. France is fighting it's own insurgency. Who will stand for human rights and freedom? Who has the courage to defend and protect freedom?

Yes, Senator Kerry, I am a stupid man. I am stupid because I would gladly give my life to save my family or a brother. I would give my life to see freedom and righteousness tower above evil and depravity. I am a stupid man because my eyes tear up when I hear our National Anthem. The stupid men and women of our armed forces have more integrity and moral character than you will ever have! Senator Kerry, you need to step down!

"The LORD protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me." (Psalm 116:6)

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the Heaven-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Last stanza of the The Star Spangled Banner, By Francis Scott Key, 1814

Elitist Liberals - John Kerry Insult shows his true character!

This story just breaks my heart.

Liberal Elitist, Democrat Senator John Kerry, told a group of college students: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.”

Or, translated by Gary Bauer, “Only stupid kids join the military.”

Oh God, forgive him his arrogance! Forgive him for insulting so many bright young men and women that serve and sacrifice for our freedom and safety!

Jesus said it’s not what goes in a man’s mouth that makes him unclean, but what comes out of his mouth (Matthew 15:11). John Kerry can not help but show his true character.

Senator Kerry, the education I received in the U. S. Navy was 100 times better than the government public education I received for 12 years! I was proud to serve. I gladly drilled and served in order to preserve the God blessed model of democracy and freedom that is the United States of America. You sir are a blemish, a stain to our nation’s good name. You need to step down from your position of public service. You have lost all sense of humility and have lorded your position over those you pretend to serve.

To our service members, hold your heads high!

President Bush responded, saying, “The Senator’s suggestion that the men and women of our military are somehow uneducated is insulting and shameful. Our troops did not enlist because they did not study hard in school or do their homework. The men and women who serve in our all-volunteer Armed Forces … are serving because they are patriots – and Senator Kerry owes them an apology.”

John McCain, also demanded an apology: “The suggestion that only the least educated Americans would agree to serve in the military and fight in Iraq, is an insult to every soldier serving in combat, and should deeply offend any American with an ounce of appreciation for what they suffer and risk so that the rest of us can sleep more comfortably at night. Without them, we wouldn’t live in a country where people securely possess all their God- given rights, including the right to express insensitive, ill- considered and uninformed remarks.”

Take a stand in the voting both next week! Knock the elitist liberals off of their towers of power!
