2 Peter 1:1-21

Scripture
2 Peter 1:8
“For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (NIV)

“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (HCSB)

Observation
Keep increasing in these (2 Peter 1:5-7) qualities to increase in knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

v.5-7 “5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge, 6 knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness, 7 godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.” (HCSB)

Application
The greatest command was to love God (Luke 10:27). These verses in 2 Peter give as a way to show our love for God and increase in knowledge of Him. Strive to achieve these qualities today. Think and do good things. Be self-controlled. Reflect God’s glory to others. Show brotherly love and affection toward someone today.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, grant me the endurance to strive for these qualities today. Not for my glory, but for yours. In Jesus’ name I pray – Amen.
