My heart sank and stomach lurched as I read the article about the woman in Scotland that is seeking $250,000 (Euros) as compensation for the financial burden of raising her daughter that survived a botched abortion. How selfish has the enlightened 21st century man become?
I am celebrating and praising God for the birth of my first son this month! I am reminded by God's word that "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalm 127:4-5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them? I think of my family growing up, 4 brothers and 1 sister, and how blessed my parents have been. Sure it was a sacrifice on my parents part, but to look at the legacy they have left it is just amazing! And now any one of us would stop what we were doing and instantly come to their aid. Why has the value of family changed? Is $250,000 worth more than a son or daughter? Is that all a human life is worth?
Well, if you don't know the truth about your purpose and design, I guess it could be said that 180 pounds or so of water and clay is worth much less than $250,000. And if we don't call it murder or death but instead call it choice... it's not so bad. Of course the choice starts before conception! So what we should really call it is "responsibility and consequence elimination".
Dear Lord, what have we become? I used to be one of the smart monkeys, thank you for saving me from the worlds spell before I made a grave mistake and thank you for the blessing of life you have placed in my care.
